The melting point of niobium is 2468˚C, and the density of it is 8.6 g/cm3. With the characteristics of corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and malleability, niobium is widely used in electronics industry, steel industry, chemical industry, optics, gemstone manufacturing, superconducting technology, aerospace technology and other fields. Niobium sheet and plate is the most common form of Nb product.

Niobium Sheet & Niobium Plate Production Technology

  • Niobium sheets & plate is usually made by cold rolling. The total processing rate is controlled at 80% ~ 90% of slab thickness, and each processing rate is controlled at 6% ~ 8% of slab thickness. In order to ensure the surface quality of sheet metal, the blank of forging forming should be free of defect, unpolluted, and the roller surface should be clean.
  • The flow of niobium alloy sheet, niobium strip and niobium foil processing and heat treatment is: electron beam melting of Nb ingot — forging at room temperature (or < 400℃) — annealing — roughing — annealing — strip rolling — annealing — foil rolling — heat treatment.
